Airgap.life exists because we noticed something: people are restless in a way that scrolling makes worse. The solution isn't productivity — it's having something to do with your hands.
Where this came from
The name airgap comes from a security concept: an airgapped computer is one that is physically disconnected from any network. Unhackable, because it's unreachable. We liked the metaphor. Some things are worth protecting from the internet's reach.
We built this because the practical skills that people used to learn by osmosis — from parents, from neighbours, from doing things together — have largely vanished from daily life. Nobody teaches you how to change a washer. Nobody shows you which wood to buy for a first project. You either already know, or you don't.
We think that gap is closeable. Every skill on this site was once considered ordinary knowledge. We're just writing it down clearly, in the right order, with the actual tools listed.

Attention is the asset
The platforms are optimised for your time. Every scroll is an auction bid — your attention traded for a dopamine hit that lasts three seconds. We think that's a bad deal.
Making changes you
There is something that happens when your hands are occupied and your mind is solving a real problem. It is not well described by productivity language. It feels like being a person again.
Starting is the hard part
The skill itself is learnable. The barrier is not talent — it is not knowing which tools to buy, what to practise first, or whether you're doing it right. We remove that barrier.
Good enough is not the goal
Every course maps the full road: beginner, competent, good, excellent. We don't stop at a taster. We show you the whole journey so you can choose how far to go.

We tell you exactly what to buy and what to avoid. No affiliate pressure. If a £30 tool is the right tool, we say so.
Real projects
Every course ends with a finished object — a wallet, a shelf, a loaf, a song. Not a sampler. Something with a purpose.
Accessible price
£8 a month. Several courses are free, permanently. We don't think practical knowledge should be expensive.
No algorithm
We don't chase virality. We don't have a feed. We publish one course per week and we make it as good as we can.
