Privacy Policy

Account data. When you create an account, Clerk (our authentication provider) collects your email address and, if you choose, your name. This is used solely for authentication and membership access.

Payment data. Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your card details. Stripe passes us a confirmation that payment succeeded, your email address, and a customer identifier. We store this to maintain your membership status.

Usage analytics. We use Plausible Analytics, a privacy-friendly tool that collects no personal data and sets no cookies. It records page views in aggregate only. No IP addresses are stored. No cross-site tracking occurs.

Membership funnel. So that we can see where people give up when trying to join, we record a small number of events on our own servers: that a locked course step was shown, that a membership plan was clicked, that sign-up was started, that a Stripe checkout was created, that a payment completed, and that a subscription was cancelled. Each event stores the course slug and plan concerned, and a random identifier held in your browser's session storage. That identifier is not a cookie, is not shared with anyone, contains nothing about you, and is deleted by your browser when you close the tab. Its only purpose is to connect the steps of a single visit so we can tell how far people get. Once you are signed in, these events are also linked to your account.

Email. If you subscribe to our newsletter via the signup form, we store your email address with Buttondown (our email provider). You can unsubscribe at any time via the link in any email. We also use Resend to send transactional emails (membership confirmation, course completion, digest emails).

Account activity data. When you use airgap.life as a logged-in member, we store the following in your account profile (via Clerk): your membership status and Stripe subscription reference; your course progress (which steps you have completed, per course); your daily practice streak and last check-in date; your saved bookmarks (courses and side quests); your course ratings; your referral count; and your completed courses and tracks, together with the date you completed each one. This data is used to power your dashboard, maintain your progress, print the date on your completion certificates, and send completion emails. It is not shared with third parties.

We do not sell your data to third parties. We do not use advertising networks. We do not track you across other websites. We do not use cookies beyond those strictly necessary for authentication (set by Clerk).

Account data is retained while your account is active. If you delete your account, your data is removed from Clerk's systems within 30 days. Payment records are retained for 7 years as required by UK tax law. Plausible analytics data is aggregate and contains no personal information. Membership funnel events are retained for 12 months and then deleted.

We use one strictly necessary cookie set by Clerk to maintain your authenticated session. We do not use analytics cookies, advertising cookies, or tracking cookies, and we set no cookie for analytics of any kind. The membership funnel described above uses a random identifier in your browser's session storage rather than a cookie; it lasts only until you close the tab and is not used to recognise you on a later visit or on any other site.

If we make material changes to this policy, we will notify members by email. The effective date at the top of this page will be updated. Continued use of airgap.life after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
